(Not controled OCR) The different statistical data sources available for seafood I consumption analysis in France belong to three types : the apparent consumption estimated on the basis of a balance between production and trade, used at national scale and for international comparison, the data in value published by the national Institute for economic statistics, aggregating food balance sheet, and economic results of inquiries about the activities of the branch industries, and the household consumption estimated through consumers' panels. A critical and historical analysis of the different available data series is presented, with focus on the major difficulties when interpreting and cross-checking the data (series breaking-nomenclature items, range of... |

1. The ASTRODOME research project aims to study the economic aspects of the system of allocation and transmission of shellfish concessions, which is considered as an essential element in the understanding of the occupancy strategies of the coastal maritime space. Two series of questions are highlighted. The first series examines the system from a sectorial development point of view: what are the shellfish farmers' needs that the implementation of a quasi concession market satisfied, and to a larger extent, what is the contribution of the evolution of the system of allocation and transmission of concessions to the evolution of the sector's structure? The second series takes a look at the system from a collective interest point of view: to what extent does... |

The D3.6 aims to assess the competiveness and sustainability of production systems (PS) for all case studies covered by SUCCESS (Whitefish, Flatfish, Coastal fish and shellfish, Mussels, Salmonids, Seabass & Seabream and Carp). This assessment relies on a number of selected indicators which include indicators of economic performance, economic dependency, social and environmental sustainability indicators. The seven case studies represent a significant part of the EU fisheries and aquaculture production (FAP) as they contributed to 55% of the total EU Seafood production in value (38% in volume) in 2014. Case studies include PS ranging from large production units and/or companies, strongly dependent on inputs availability and extra EU imports (whitefish... |

The first national census concerning shellfish culture in France was carried out in 2002. The main purpose was to provide accurate and comprehensive information on the number and structure of the companies using an in depth review of production factors (leases, plants, equipment's, labour and qualifications), and a survey of cultural practices up to the market level. Moreover, the census aimed to quantify the bivalve sales dedicated to consumption and to measure the livestock transfers among rearing shellfish production areas at different developmental stages: spat, intermediate products and fully grown marketable products. The French oyster production reached 109 000 metric tons in 2001. The main production was observed in Poitou-Charentes region... |
